Slides and water

Okay folks, here's our problem.  In the last year, we have found that if it rains while our slides are out, water will stand and doesn't come off when the slides come in.  We parked on an overnight stay and it was raining. a   We got up and prepared for leaving. did the usual preparation for leaving, pulling up jacks and putting slides in.   As we pulled out, there were some puddles with water so as my wife put on the brake to ease ourselves into the puddles and keep from rocking going through them, water poured out the top of the driver side slide and almost went down her neck. We're talking a good gallon of water.   We can't figure out why the water is staying when the slide comes in.  For the first few years since we've had the coach, when the slides came in the water would rush off out over the slides and down the windows.  We have had some suggestions and checked those out and can't seem to come up with why this is happening.   Now before we pull the slides in, if we've had rain, we raise the front of the coach and the water will pour off the back of the slide before we pull them in.  It appears to be coming off the slide awning, the one that comes out when the slide comes out.  It's a good way to make sure your awake!!

I have the same problem. I believe it stems from the canvas being stretched over time. So, whenever it rains, I draw the slides in after it rains to keep them from stretching any further. If it's a heavy rain, I may do it during a slow down.

How do you make the front end stay up with an auto leveler?

We have had the same problem.  We spoke with Fleetwood service while in Decatur having other items taken care of and their solution was to raise the front of the motorhome to drain the water that collected on top of the slide (under the topper).  We were there multiple nights and it just so happened it rained one of night after I had mentioned the problem to them.  When the tech came out to get the motorhome, he got the shower!  And it wasn't a gallon.  We're talking 5 gallons!!!  After cleaning up the mess, we proceeded into the shop for the additional repairs.

Unfortunately, we have not actually "seen" them do the raise and drain, but we have had opportunity to try it ourselves.  We raise the front of the motorhome using the jacks' manual mode. We then retract the jacks, re-level, and then pull the slides in. Once in, I take off my shoes, and while standing on the driver's seat I use a flashlight to confirm there isn't any water left on top of the slide.  If I see a lot, we repeat the procedure.  If there's just a little water left, I have a large beach towel I roll up and put at the end of the slide on top behind the driver's seat to catch any leftover water.

Note that sometimes you have to bring the slides in a little at a time to drain the water that collects on top of the slide toppers.

Had the same problem. Now we retract the jacks to unlevel the coach.  The water drains off. Then we retract the slides.

Had the same thing happen and got a neck full of water and a wet driver's seat.  Solution was to drop off the jacks and watch the water drain and depending on level of mh either adjust jacks accordingly to drain or bring in slides.  A little unnerving the first time it happens but you get over it, figure out a solution, and move on.  Navy taught me that.

as a possible remedy bring the slides out and reseal the join to MH to tarp and tarp to slide , then coat the tarp with tent waterproofing .

check to se if there is a drain trough on the slide and if they are blocked by leaves and or debris

on a hard rain with wind , there probably will be water blown in by the wind , that is a whole new problem
