Just wondering, is my MPG normal?

We own a 2011 28MS Strom. With the 6.8L V-10 gas engine w/5 spd AOD transmission. We have been getting consistantly 6.0/6.3 MPG. We have 4500 miles on it. Our last RV was a 2001 31' Mini Wini w/ a 6.8L and a 4 spd AOD transmission. It got consistantly 9.5/10.0 MPG. Our camping friends own a 2004 Rexhall  28' A class w/6.8L and 4spd AOD transmission amd They consistantly get 9.5/10.0 MPG and that's includes pulling a Sazuki Samuri behind it. We would very much appreciate any input from those of you that have the same or similar RV's on your MPG.  Loosing 3-4 MPG is a lot considering this is a smaller RV w/ lastest engine mapping and the 5 spd AOD transmission.  Thank you in advance your your input.

My 2001 Storm 31W has the 6.8l V10 and the 4-speed trans. I average 8.5 MPG (with little genset operation) for full trips. I assume your driving habits haven't changed since your old coach, so something is strange with 6.5 MPG. I have a trip computer, and I can see 2 MPG crawling up a hill in low, but then I can see 20 MPG coming down the hills. Flat running at 60 MPH usually shows about a bit over 9.7 MPG.

My 36 ft 07 Pace Arrow, pulling a toad, gets between 6.8 and 7 mpg.  I have the Ford v10 also.  I have never ran it without pulling my toad, so I really don't know what I would get.  I think maybe you should get it checked out.  You should get better than what your getting.  Good Luck.  I really like the v10.

Have you tried keeping your speed to 60? I drove 600 miles from KC, MO to Denver and tried it. I actually got 8-9-10 mpg--more than I ever got. Was not towing, but I'm assuming I would have still seen a difference from going the speed limit all the time and getting 6 mpg.

I also have a 2011 Storm with the Ford 6.8L V-10, purchased new in the fall of 2011. Just got back from a 3 week trip through the upper peninsula of Michigan - about an 1,800 mile trip for us. The coach now has about 2,500 miles total. I'd be happy with 6 MPG as we averaged about 5.7 MPG. We did have a tow dolly and all the driving was done in the "Tow Haul" position. I tried to keep RPM's to between 1,800 and 2,000 and would say that 85% of the miles were in this range. No question that this engine has all the power I need, but I'm disappointed in the fuel mileage.
