Interested in hearing how other people have a reliable secure internet connection when travelling in their RV.  We have been using, if available, the secure internet provided by the RV parks but we need something more reliable and definitely secure.  Thanks!

We use our Verizon Jet Pack as our secure  connection, i up our data plan to unlimited data, thus i can stream movies, or use as much internet as we want..   thinking about upgrading the one we have, a newer, faster one has come out..

I suppose the first question should be "what do you mean by secure?" We used ExpressVPN while we were in China a year or so ago and it was secure (from prying eyes), gave us anonymity and worked well. However, it does nothing for speed or reliability; that is strictly a function of the ISP. In fact, it will probably be slower due to to the heavy encryption.

Our experience is that RV park internet connections are not secure. Every one we have used actually has a message stating something to the effect of 'this connection is not secure, others can see what you are doing, continue?' We say Yes when we are just browsing. Should we need to do any type of banking,  or other confidential stuff, we use our cell phone Hotspot to connect. Using your own equipment is the only way to be secure.

You may want to consider a VPN (Virtual Private Network) like the one we used in China for secure transactions. It is software you set up on your computer and a service that you pay for. It gives you local security and local anonymity via an encrypted "tunnel" to a variety of secure servers, in a variety of countries of your choosing. While we were in China we mostly used a secure server in Phoenix, which is where we live. From the point of view of everything we connected to we were connecting from Phoenix. We could use Google, Facebook, do banking, etc., etc.

RV parks usually do NOT have secure wifi.  BUT, using a vpn will secure your connection. You might also look at the Winegard connect.  I have one and we use it not only for security (you set up your own secure wifi password that the parks internet goes through) but the 'connect' improves the signal and we pull in weaker locations more easily.  This was the first generation 'connect' but it works fine.  I also take it along when staying in motels (fits in a briefcase) as motels are notorious for getting hacked.  With a VPN and/or a Winegard Connect we feel quite safe in our internet work.
