Change from traditional RV refrigerator to residential refrigerator

    A friend of mine owns a RV Salvage yard and all see in there are burned up units from fridge fires.I was wondering about replacing the Dometic with traditional refrigerator and if there is anything I need to consider before changing it out other than always running off the generator or shore power

    There have been a lot of discussions on the forum on this topic. High points are:

    Sizing to allow unit to fit

    Inverter power to run the fridge when needed, which ofter calls for adding battery capacity.

    Other points are that residential refrigerators have better insulation and run more efficently therefore using less power. While that may be open to debate, it does make sense as they are always being challenged to be "more green".
