Chapter Requirements

I understand that anyone owning a Fleetwood RV is eligible for membership in the FMA.  I attended the 2010 FMA rally at Lazydays in Florida where I asked this question (or words to this effect) in the general meeting:

"Will there be chapters for specific Fleetwood brands?"

The answer from the FMA President (don't remember who it was at the time) was a very emphatic and loud, "NO".  He explained that one of the goals of the organization was to bring Fleetwood owners together, not to separate them.

So far there are only 3 FMA chapters and one of these chapters requires ownership of a specific brand of Fleetwood RV.  This requirement is in their chapter bylaws and on their membership application form.  I was just curious as to whether or not I had misunderstood the answer to my question in Florida?  If a chapter can be organized for a specific Fleetwood brand then I might be interested in helping to organize one for Discovery owners.

    Thanks,

    Sam Whitaker, President FMA

You can organize a chapter which is mostly for a specific brand but if someone with another brand and wants to join we would ask that you allow them to join your chapter. I am the one answered your question at the Lazyday Rally. I know it appears that one of the chapters is for Revolutions only, but that is not the case. If someone with another brand want to join the chapter they may do so. We can supply you the information on forming a chapter to include a draft of by-laws. The only thing we ask is that your by-laws do not vialote FMA by-laws. Please let me know if I can be of futher help.

I apologize that I did not explain futher about organizing a chapter.

    Sam Whitaker, President, FMA

    Robert & Carol Ann,

The requirements for forming a chapter are under chapters to include sample by-laws.

There is a Discovery Owners of America, International, more commonly known as DOAI, but it is a "stand-alone" organization - not affiliated with Fleetwood, FMA, FMCA, etc.

Would like to find out if there is any interest in forming a chapter in the western USA? I live in Reno and would like to see more events for the west or be part of a new chapter for this area?

    Thanks
