A/C Solar Panel - Newbee

I had thought I had found a "full service" storage facility to leave my 2011 Bounder 35H. I need advice and opinions about where I now find myself.

After leaving my rig there, they informed me that a) they do not provide any storage for covers when not in use b) they will not cover my rig for me and c) they will not remove batteries and store indoors with a trickle charge.

To the third issue, I now need to figure out the best option for in-rig winterizing of three batteries. I see two choices:

    1) connect to shore power ($20/mo). There are disconnect switches for the inverter and both house & chassis batteries. Should they be connected or disconnected?
    2) there is a small solar panel on the roof. I believe this is for trickle charge only. Again, should the inverter and each battery be connected or disconnected?

Finally, what is members opinion on a facility not providing rig covering and battery storage service?

Thanks in advance for any advice, opinions or suggestions.

Twenty bucks a month seems well worth it for peace of mind. Mine stays hooked to shore power all year round. You didn't say where you lived but if you're in the snow region you'll need to do a little more work to get it ready. But let's say you're in North Florida as I am. A cover is nice but not mandatory. Just wash the roof when you take off again. Leave the batteries on and they will be maintained with a small charge. Make sure the water level in the batteries are  sufficient. Turn off the water pump. If it's during the summer put the A/C at 80 to prevent mildew. During the winter put the heater at 40 to prevent freezing. Don't worry; the compartments below have a vent that brings warm air from the upstairs. Empty the fridge and cabinets of food. Make sure there's no cracks for mice to enter. Use foam to seal the cracks. My cable exit is stuffed with old carpet with the rubber backing. Leave some rat poison in each compartment. Remove toilet paper (rats love it for making nests).  Put a bar of Irish Spring soap in each compartment. Some people say the rats don't like the smell; I do. Disconnect the inverter. Good luck!

Thanks John. Great and appreciated advice.

I'm also hoping to get some information on the solar panel. Not sure if the trickle charge also goes to the engine battery.
