We have a 2000 Southwind Storm, gas engine, with a 454 Chevy without the banks system. We will be traveling DFW to Albuquerque in October. We have traveled from DFW to Amarillo before without any problems, but we are worried about the elevation grade traveling to Albuquerque on I-40. Has anyone driven this I-40 route to Albuquerque and can you give us your thoughts on the elevation grade. We are worried that we won't have the power to climb the mountain grades. Climbing up is one thing, coming down is another. We have also looked at traveling DFW to El Paso and up I-25 to Albuquerque. Would this be a better route for us? We have very little experience traveling through mountains.
