We just purchased a new Southwind 35K with vacu flush toilets and when you flush everyone around hears the vacuum pump working and I am wondering if there is anyway to muffle the noise so everyone in the campground doesn't know you are using the toilet

Well Greg, there are two basic options adapt. Meaning, Just like us you will get used to it, we thought it would be a bigger problem, like night time use etc. but it really hasn't and the external noise just doesn't raise any attention beyond our own minds. Remember REV builds thousands of these! My camping buddy liked our Bounder so well they bought a Southwind like you! now we echo off each other and laugh about it! Option 2, I have heard is to open the cavity above our propane tank and line the walls around your vacu-flush with self adhesive insulation, which provides some help I have heard!

The biggest golden rule with these is to teach everyone how to use it, and what can go down and what can't! always use more water not less, forget about what they say that vacu-flush saves water.

    Happy Camping!

There are ways to quiet the toilet with insulation. I haven't tried it but looking into it. There is a guy on YouTube who says he has an old city bus that's been converted into an RV and that his bathroom has been sound proofed.

I usually put the lid down and do a quick flush and cough at the same time. ; )

For us, the pump is on a shelf over the bay we keep our lawn chairs.  There is room to put insulation around it, but I wouldn't bother.  If anything we sit and count the number of "chucka chucka" sounds..   61 is the average.  LOL
