We have a 2000 Fleetwood Southwind 32V on a F53 chassis. In a rain storm last week I lost power made it to a shop that would work on it on a Saturday and the mechanic found a water soaked air filter. The air intake tube is about 18" off the road surface and driving behind semis and cars created a turbulence under the front bumper and the water went right into the filter.
I did a search and some said K&N makes a intake kit to fix that and Ford came out with a service bulletin to repair it. Well, K&N doesn't make a kit for it and the Ford replacement part is no longer available. Some said they used 3" PVC with two U's and some 3" PVC pipe to make a snorkel. Well I am pretty creative but out on the road I don't have access to my shop and tools so I bought a spare filter and will not drive in the rain until I get home.
I will look for some schedule 20 3" PVC and sewer ell's and a length to make a snorkel. Does anyone have a better Idea or where to find the Ford fix part?
