We purchased a new Southwind 36P from General RV at the Tampa show in January.

We did a complete pre delivery inspection that took over 1.5 hours and tested every system. We made a list of some things we noticed, and made an appointment to bring it back after using it for a week to fix any issues we found.

Other than the clothes dryer being unplugged, and a misalignment of the dinette, no major issues were found. It spent a few hours in the shop and we were back on the road the same day.

Since January we have now spent 180 nights in it and have driven 12000 miles from Tampa to Pittsburg to Alamaba to South Carolina to California and back. On our way home the steps stopped extending, we have scheduled to have them repaired next week. Otherwise we could not be happier and are very pleased with the quality of the workmanship. This is our 5th RV and our third new one and our first Fleetwood after owning Winnebago, Georgetown, and four winds.  Overall we have had good luck with new units.

Of course there are always loose screws, adjustments, etc. but that can be expected. We still have four months on the warranty, we will keep our fingers crossed

    Hi James,

What was the remedy on your Steps. I am about to purchase a 2019 Souithwind 36P. I am curious of any other issues you have found along the way.

    Thank you.

We had an issue with the Kwiki steps not engaging on our 2014 Southwind, and found the problem to be the light weight motor.

    It was shot.

Fleetwood's techs replaced the motor at the Decatur service facility ($100.00) and all is working fine.

We have been very pleased with our Southwind, the fit and finish, and regularly receive compliments on the RV, and would definitely consider Fleetwood in the future.

The the step  problem ended up being a bad step motor. It was repaired at a Camping World and

Fleetwood covered it with no problem,

We also have a 2018 Southwind 37H. We have to get on a step stool to reach the controls for the AC. Am I missing a remote or something?-Dan

The controls can be hard to reach, I am 6' and have no problems but the wife lets me do most of the changes. As for the steps, Lippert went out of business due to crummy steps and Lippert bought them but apparently made to changes. In my last 2 new rv's I have replaced 4 step motors, It only takes a few minutes so I carry a spare. Had one fail last week, fixed it with a spare and bought another spare at the local camping world.
