Maiden Voyage woes.

We just completed our first real shake out of our new (to us) 2017 Pace Arrow 36U.

One thing I noticed right away was the air compressor cycles continuously.  If you are standing still shouldn't it stop running when the suspension airbags get full?    I am guessing there is a leak in the line or at a fitting.

Next was a water leak running down the interior of the windshield directly in front of the drivers seat.  Ran some silicone across the windshield gasket in that area and it didn't affect the leak.  still there.

The water heater that we tested briefly at purchase only gives the bathroom sink about 10 seconds of hot water and then it runs cold.  My owners manual has lots of info on AquaHot systems, but that is not what is installed in this coach.  It's a combo propane/electric.  I hear the propane burner kick on for a few minutes and shut off, but the water is not heated.  (Cold showers suck) tried both electric and propane and both at same time.  no better results.

Last thing I noted was under the dining bench seat next to the refrigerator, there is a removable panel.  inside that panel are 3 electrical outlets all wired up just laying there.  not mounted to anything, and only one of the three is long enough to extend completely out of the opening.

Can anyone offer commentary on one or more of these issues?

    Thanks in advance,

    Pete

We had a similar leak on our 2016 35E. Turned out to be the small LED running lights on the top of the front cap. A little sealant around each fixed it for the most part but we can still get drips on the dash  after a real heavy rain event. We've also had leaks with the windshield seal itself and have most of them stopped.

Air compressor issue would be a Freightliner problem. Chassis has a three year warranty and that should still be covered. Call their service center in Gaffney and talk with them about it. With a new to you coach I would recommend putting Gaffney on your travels (get an appointment first) and let them give the chassis and systems a once over.

Water heater sounds like a thermostat which should be relatively simple to replace. We had a hot water water flow issue with ours where is was good at the start put then was a much lower flow than the cold. Turned out to be a backflow preventor at the water heater. Fleetwood techs took it out of the system and its fine now.

I had a similar experience with hot water on my 2015 Excursion. The problem was simple and basic, and known to occur on Fleetwood Coaches for years, but isn’t mentioned in the owner’s manual. Sounds like this might be your problem: If you use the outside sprayer in the utility bay but fail to turn off the hot and cold faucets (the water will be off because the sprayer head is off), you create a blind loop where hot water from the water heater flows initially to the shower but then cold water flows through the blind loop to the hot side of the shower. So check the outside sprayer faucets. If they are on, you may solve the problem by turning them off.

I had a leak on the upper corner of my windshield. After sealing every marker light and pulling back the windshield seal and resealing it twice it still leaked. On another forum someone suggested liquid silicone. It comes in a small tube and is available at most good auto stores., It goes on like water and permeates into the minute cracks and and it stopped the leaks. Immidiate cdleanup off the glass is important as it goes on like water but dries like sliconce

Hugh, anything that is covered by Warranty is music to my ears.   I'll give them a ring.

Mr & Mrs Carson, I would never have thought of checking the outside sprayer.  Thats brilliant advice, will check that out (fingers crossed)

James,  I thought of the marker lights but initially dismissed them.  I have the silicone on hand and will reseal those areas even if they don't show evidence of leaking.

You are all Absolute Life Savers.  Thank you all for your suggestions.

Our Brand new 2017 Pace Areow has been a nightmare..... hopefully it has stopped..... every suggestion offered was top notch except my added comment for your windshield might help..... take it to FlletWood. Don’t take it anywhere but back to them.   Mine sat in a parking lot for s month in November in rain and snow... and wasn’t touched.... then they said they had to take it to a glass shop.... they will have to remove the windshield and reseal it, but before they do that they will have to remove the paint that was oversprayed on the area where it’s leaking....that’s what I was told that happened to mine....I doubt it’s the markers on top...... the windshield is just to big, not to have any issues... Email me personally with any questions or issues, I’d love to  try to help or even hear of things you’ve corrected on yours.... but don’t worry, more will break on these, even ask the older crowd that full time in them......  Also, support the bottom of your pocket door, the entire track will eventually rip out of the ceiling.

Jack you are a bloody genius!!!

the water faucets were on outside as you thought.  I turned them off and instant hot water throughout the coach.    I guess a couple cold showers will be enough to remind me to check that in the future.

You guys saved me a lot of dough and/or embarrassment.

    I am eternally grateful.
