This is my first motor home and I am doing this alone.  I want to drain the fresh water tank and clean/sanitize it. However, I can't find the fresh water tank drain. The owners manual is all but useless as it only refers to a drain but doesn't say where it is. Can someone please help. Also, any tips you have on the subject would be very helpful. Thanks!

    Hi Felicia,

Depending on what coach you have. On our 06 Discovery the fresh water drain valve was on the right side of the coach about mid ship and the valve was blue. On our 2018 Discovery it is on the left side in the water bay and the valve is red. As far as sanitizing the tank, a mix of water and bleach seems to work the best. You can find mixture ratios through google or You tube is a great resource along with other rv forums.

You did not state what coach you have, but sometimes you can trace the plastic pipe from the bottom of the tank and it should lead to a valve, it has to be somewhere below the tank, usually not far from it.

Sometimes they put it in the sewer plumbing bay if it is close to to the tank.

    Good luck

Thanks so much for taking the time to write. i have an older Jamboree. I will definitely look for that pipe. There is a tiny valve that lets the water out. But it is so small it takes an hour for it to drain. Hopefully there is another way. I never thought of looking near the sewer plumbing. Thanks for taking time to respond!
