After owning two popups, a travel trailer, a Class C and, now, a Class A, I've experienced the first actual damage. Not a bad average, I guess.
Here's what happened. I pulled the RV into the lot to park it in the covered stall. Whlle I moved my Jeep that was parked there, I left the RV motor running. When I jumped back in to begin parking in the tight confines of the stall, I swung the RV door closed behind me. Apparently, the door didn't close enough to retract the steps. I pulled forward slowly, watching the mirrors clear the 6x6 support posts, when I heard a CRUNCH. I looked at both mirrors. No problems. Shut down the motor and got up to go outside and, sho' nuff, there's the Kwikee steps skewed sideways about 30 degrees. The bottom step caught about an inch of the wooden post. Just enough to do the damage. Not sure of the total damage done, other than a small amount of fiberglass crimping at the step opening. I've priced replacement steps all over and Amazon has them for $450. Ouch! Any suggestions moving forward?
