Need help with 50 amp cable receptacle on 07 Pace Arrow

We bought our 2007 36D Pace Arrow almost two years ago and we love it. However, I really HATE what is required to connect the power cable to the RV. You have to reach way back to the upper corner of the utility bay. The 50 amp receptacle is housed in a little box only marginally larger than the receptacle. This "python" of a cord is hard enough to handle taking it in and out of storage. Being forced to reach up into that little box to plug the cord in is really difficult for me. I have arthritis in several areas including my hands and wrists. This makes it virtually impossible to push the plug into place and twist it to lock in. It's actually harder to get it loose. There just isn't enough room to get a good grip.

I'm looking for a better way. A refitting of the receptacle to a better location. An actual 50 amp extension cord to make the receptacle more reachable. I need help. Surely, there are others out there who have the same problem. Suggestions, please!

Curious, is it possible to leave the power cord connected to the box or is that not an option?

Well, that's what I've been doing. Here's the problem. The cable is attached to the outlet and runs down through a port in the bottom of the bay. This enables the bay door to be closed while the cable is hooked up to shore power. The only thing I can do when I'm ready to hit the road is to insert the male end of the cable up into the compartment through the sewer hose opening and pull it through. That leaves a two foot loop of the cable exposed to the road. Kind of hard to explain the situation. I'm just concerned about the health of that part of the cable.

Have you thought about getting (or making) a short extension cable, with a male at one end and a female at the other, then store the long cable in another compartment?

Thanks for the replies. I had thought about having a short 50 amp cable made with correct connectors. I looked and looked for one and I've found it. It's an 18 inch, 50 amp RV shore power extension cord adapter 14-50P male to SS2-50R female. The short length will extend out of that blasted little box where the power cord has to be attached. I've made room in a "next door" compartment for the big snake cable to be stored. I'm looking forward to receiving and installing this week. Hopefully, this will solve the problem.
