Mini Cooper as Tow Vehicle

Wondering if anyone is towing a mini cooper 4 wheels down. I recently purchased a 2008 Mini Convertible that is set up to tow 4 wheels down. The party I bought it from told me to put it in neutral (it's a 6 speed manual) and lock the steering in the straight position.when towing. Seems to me that would be rough on the front tires. Wonder if anyone can confirm that this is the proper way to tow the mini?

Not sure about flat towing a mini but if you do the front wheels need to be unlocked so they can turn when you do.

Read the manual! Go to this Website http://webcontent.goodsam.com/DinghyGuide2008.pdf I did not see it there! I was told by one dealer the vehicle I purchased could be towed ( flat towing ) 4 down. When I got home and read the manual it said no! Every car I have towed said to unlock the front wheels!

Thanks for the feedback. I know the minis (manual trans) are being towed four wheels down successfully. The dealer will tell you it voids the warranty but mine is an 08 with 30k miles so I could care less. I will check a couple more forums. Maybe I can find someone who is towing a mini.

I got out the mini owner's manual, duh!, and the manual says that the ignition should be in the #1 position which prevents the steering from locking when towing the vehicle.
