Purchased a 2017 Fleetwood Bounder 35k from General RV in Canton Ohio on October 12016. First trip out I put the awning out turned my back and the whole awning broke loose of the mounts and dropped down. Took it back to dealer, they fixed it said the screws where loose from the factory should be good to go. Second camping trip weekender didn't use it, came Home winterized and parked it. Made a two week trip to Florida from Ohio and guess what happened the awning fell off again! We got it back in the housing and when we got back home called General to let the know we where coming in hot! They had check other Bounder on the lot and looked at ours they said they changed the parts that hold it up. We have new parts coming so hopefully this event does not happen again..

Those that have the Carefree of Colorado watch it carefully it will just drop with out any warning.

Sorry for the long grip but I know somebody else has had the same problem.

I purchased the same year and model as yours. First time we used it I noticed the awning was drooping at the rear side at full extension. Have they now completely repaired yours. I haven't taken my back to the dealer to repair

NO Carefree sales rep/ Customer service person told me I'm on my own they discontinued it and I guess you will just have to get a new awning      So I pushed it out all the way while my wife held the key on and then I drilled a hole on the extended arm and put in a cotter pin to keep it out flat  and figured I would use it this way until I HAD to replace it   but Carefree could care less.

    Gentlemen,

While I've not had a problem with Carefree, good or bad, I would suggest contacting REV customer support to see if they might be able to talk to the vendor to help. I know when I had serious problems with powergear electric jacks they really helped with getting the vendor to step up and make things right. Certainly worth the call. It's a lot harder for a vendor to ignore a factory than it is to ignore the end user.

Carefree does not back their products.  I've had nothing but troubles with mine since new (2019 Southwind).  When you call Carefree, they just give you the "needs adjustment" runaround.  By the way, we don't cover adjustments. Right now, it's been taken off the RV until their authorized Carefree Service Center gets it figured out.  I've gone all summer without an awning.  Carefree is selling defective Freedom awnings and they know it.  As for a warranty, they do everything to not honor it at their expense. Fleetwood has gone out of their way to help me, but it's tough for them when the product is nothing but junk.

Update:  Fleetwood is going to replace (thank you Fleetwood) our Carefree Freedom awning.  It has been in the shop 4 times for this.  Picked it up 2 weeks ago, said it was fixed, first time I put it out, it only extended a foot.  Worst part is it would not retract.  I would never purchase another RV with a carefree freedom awning.  I'd tell them change the awning, or no deal.  As for Carefree, they won't back up their defective product.
