My motorhome is a 1988, 26 foot Tioga Class C mounted on a Ford E-350 chassis.  The engine is a Ford 460 cu. in. V-8, the vehicle has 38,000 miles on it.  I am only getting 5 to 6 miles per gallon with this vehicle.  Is this the best I can expect with this motorhome and engine?

Please let me know if in your experience this is approximately the mileage I should be getting.  Last year I had new plugs, wires, filters, etc. changed.  I did not have any work done to the fuel injectors.

    Regards

    Dennis

Dennis, From what I remember, the engine you have never was known for economy but had plenty of power to pull.

In answer to your question, yes, that is about as good as it gets.

    Hope this helps.

from the folks I have talked to, the Ford gas engine has lots of power, and very poor mpg....I owned a 2010 Jayco Seneca with a Duramax Diesel and averaged about 9 mpg...my new 16 Excusion has 50 less HP but is a pusher, and I am easily averaging 10.4 mpg when towing a Honda CRV....it comes down to "if you have to know the mpg of your motorhome, you probably shouldn' own one"-----lol

ps....note above that I do know my mpg, but still own one....
