How to Mount a Front License Plate

I'm going to start this thread again to see how those needing a front plate have done it.  I have a 2016 Excursion which I purchased in a state that doesn't require a front plate. Now that I've registered it in MD (where a front plate is required) I need to mount it and there doesn't appear to be any factory provision for this.  For those with a front plate how is it mounted?  Bolted directly to the front cowl? Using some sort of bracket bolted to the cowl?  some way that doesn't require holes drilled in the cowl?

If you had to drill into the cowl, any tips?

California also requires a front plate on motorhomes.  The 2015 Excursion I bought had no front plate mount.  The dealer drilled two hole in the front end and a couple bolts, washers and nuts and the job was done.

on our 2016  Excursion, I just laid the plate behind the window between the wipers...I did put a bevel on the top side to make it more vertical...not contact with the Highway Patrol to see if this is ok....lol
