I am going to the factory for service around November 9. I know that I will have to wait but the first appt. is middle of December. My problem is my bed slide on my expedition 38k will not move and I am sleeping on half a bed and my wife is on the couch. Any info would be great.

I made my appointment 3 months in advance at the factory to have a slide issue and numerous other items taken care of. My appointment is not until October 28th and I have been working my way from the southeast slowly across the country to Indiana. This is my first experience in going to the factory, previously I have had issues which were resolved through their online tech department, which is very good.

We do service there every year during rally, have had 3 AC and never had a problem either appointment or drop in.  They are very thorough and explain everything that they are doing.  Hope you have same excitement that we do, we always look forward to our visits there, but of course we know everybody.

For those of you who haven't been to the "factory" ARG Service Center in Decatur, here is how they operate.  (The following assumes you arrived the day before your appointment and are parked in one of their electric hookup only sites.)  Check-in begins at 6:30 am.  Those with appointments are serviced soon after they are checked-in.  Drop-ins are placed on a first come, first served waiting list.  If you have an appointment, a technician will be assigned who will accompany you to your coach, retract the slides, unplug the power, and drive your coach to one of the service bays.  A service rep will then conduct an interview, note your discrepancies and fill out the appropriate work order(s).  Once this process is complete, you are free to wait in the waiting room, go find breakfast, or whatever.  You may visit the coach to check on progress while the work is being conducted as long as you wear hard toed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals), and the safety glasses and badge they issue to you when you check-in.

Drop-ins are serviced in the order in which they appear on the drop-in list after work on the scheduled appointments for the day has been completed.  Last August, there were drop-ins waiting for service when we arrived that had been there for ten days.  I understand it is not always that bad, but it was that day.  There is a dump station with a potable water hydrant available.

We are currently here at the service center, arrived last Sunday afternoon.  There were about 30 motohomes in the lot that evening (lot holds 60-70 motorhomes).   We had an appointment for the following Monday and were one of the first to be pulled in to the service bay.  Be advised that they open at 6 am not 6:30 am!!  Monday mornings are very busy with check-ins!  I have noticed that they moved alot of motor homes in & out during the workday.  I talked to a number of fellow RV'ers that had dropped-in and all of them were able to get serviced by that day or the next.  The biggest issue is getting parts to the techs.  A lot of the replacement parts are not stocked and have to be shipped in.  We have had 30 issues taken care of but are waiting for one part to show up.  The techs are great and friendly!  Overall we are very pleased with the experience.  This time of the year is a lot better than the summer time.  Be advised, they are saying that the temperature is supposed to get down to 30 degrees this weekend... when we left Texas 2 weeks ago it was in the high 90's!!!  Good luck on your getting your Expedition fixed... we have a 38S!!

I stand corrected.  Check-in opens at 6:00 am.  Obviously I'm not normally awake at that time of the day.  Good luck with your service.

We are currently at the facility having our drivers side slide repaired along with a dozen or so minor issues. The slide issue was major and the service department estimated two work weeks to have us on our way.  That said, the technicians are working hard to get us out ahead of the estimated schedule.

We would advise anyone to schedule service whenever possible.   The shop has finite resources and during their busy times that can and often does result in long waits for those who are drop ins.  Even when scheduled some repairs can require long waits due to parts availability. The plus side is that the technicians are extremely professional and helpful.  I would not let anyone else service our coach.

I have arrived at the Fleetwood Service Facility for my scheduled appointment and I must say I am very impressed. I had a few minor issues that were addressed immediately and a major issue being my passanger slide was malfunctioning and I had about 8 damaged tiles. The slide was quickly removed and is presently being repaired as well as the tile floor being replaced. I should be back on the road by Tuesday morning.

The individuals at the service facility are professional and very knowledgeable, I will drive 500 to 1000 miles out of my way to have my coach serviced and repaired at this facility in the future. No more dealers for me!
