I have just purchased a new 31 foot Fleetwood 2014 Terra SE and have had a Generator issue. When running the Generator while traveling down the road, it shuts down after 2 or 3 hours of use. The Generator has 22 hours of use on the Timer. I have taken our motorhome to an authorized Onan Warrantee Repair Center and they have told me that the Generator is overheating because there is no vent in the side door and this is causing fuel vapor lock. Has anyone had any experience in this area? Presently waiting for the repair center to find out from Fleetwood and Onan what they recommend for a solution.

Had the same problem when was stuck in traffic in the Bronx. Please share your solution. My repair shop said they could put a fan on it to cool it down. They are air cooled and if the air going through is to hot they overheat and shut down to avoid damage.

     Robert

You need to contact Fleetwood at 800-322-8216 and talk to Customer Service Press 1 then 2 when calling. Tell them your problem and they will gladly assist you getting things corrected. What they did was send a kit to the Fleetwood Authorized Dealership and they will fix the problem. The kit includes a heat shield Ducting that routes the Air from outside through a Louvered Hole that is cut in the Generator Access Door. Moves the Fuel Pump to a different location so it eliminates the Fuel Vaporization Problem. That is about all I know. Good luck and call Fleetwood.

This is getting very aggravating. To say I am disappointed would put it mildly. This problem has been going on since July and here it is the end of October and my Generator problem still has not been resolved. I am not for sure who is dragging their feet Fleetwood Technical Support or Ancira. I am taking the Motorhome to Ancira on the 30th of this month and it will stay there until things are fixed. While waiting I made a trip to Florida, found more issues that must be repaired. This time I tried to use the Generator while parked at a rest area and in 3 minutes it shut down. So I know that I will have to have Onan Service Center check this out. Never had this kind of problem with my Winnebago or Allegra. Makes me wonder if I made a bad choice this time.

Our Motorhome is now at Ancira RV for Generator Modification. It has been there since 30 October. We are hopeful that we can get this problem resolved but talking to the Service Manager, I did not get a warm fuzzy when I asked him if everything had been resolved with Fleetwood about the modification. A person would think after 3 months that everything would be set to get the modification completed. I was told that Ancira would be taking pictures and then find out how to run the Exhaust Pipe and where the Fuel Pump is to be located. The code I get when the Generator shuts down is 36, a Fuel Problem. Not very specific. Could be anything from Vapor Lock to the Fuel Tank pick up. I am beginning to think that I made a mistake and should have had the Factory do the modification instead of the Dealership.

After 4 months of waiting the modification was completed.  Ran Generator for 4 hours and no hiccups. So I believe this problem is solved. Thank you Blair for all your help on this. The Dealer Service Department told me every detail. Exhaust pipe moved, Replace Fuel Line from Fuel Tank to Generator, moved and added an additional Fuel Pump, Added heat Shield, cut hole in door for Air Intake and Ducting so the Generator has to draw in fresh cooling Air. Completion look well done. Happiness !!!!!!
