We have a ’99 Bounder 34J that has a Magic Chef (Maytag?) cooking range, model CLY2242BDB. All but the oven works fine. The oven will not regulate temperature; it runs full-on (max heat) regardless of the temperature setting (except pilot - pilot works properly). I suspect that the temperature probe or the control unit is bad.
Doing a Google search on the model produces quite a few firms that sell parts for these ranges, but (so far) they all come up dry for this assembly; "out of stock", "obsolete", "not available", etc. Also, it appears that the temperature probe and control unit come together as a single assembly.
My options appear to be as follows:
1. Live with it as it is.
2. See if there is a way to get the oven control assembly repaired.
3. See if I can find a used oven control assembly e.g. from an RV salvage dealer.
4. Continue to search for a new or rebuilt oven control assembly.
5. See if there is a substitute oven control assembly that can be made to work with this model.
6. Replace the entire range.
Option 6. is the least attractive, followed by option 1. I will continue to explore option 4.
Can anyone think of additional options? Any thoughts on any of my other options?
Any help greatly appreciated.
