Hi Gary:

The picture shows the pipe coming up from you gray tank with a pressure release value mounted on top.

The pipe to the right is a vent for the Plumbing to allow the water to drain.

Without it you would have very slow draining and a lot of gurgling.

Hey All;

Thanks for the information. This pipe just came as a surprise to me when the wife found a leak from the J-trap under the the sink and she unloaded everything from that area.
