RVComfort.ZC thermostat buttons not working

I've got a 2016 Discovery 40E with a RVComfort.ZC thermostat that has those rubbery buttons. I tried turning the furnace on this morning and the buttons refused to operate - I could press them, but nothing happened. Eventually, and after pulling the fuse for a few seconds, it came to life and I was able to get the zone 1 furnace turned on, but only after mashing the buttons for a while. I finally managed to get zone 2 on, but I cannot set the temperature. Now, I cannot even turn the system off.

Is this device "user serviceable"? Can I pop it off a wire-harness, open it, and clean some contacts? Or do I need to replace it?

After some poking around, I found this replacement: "Coleman RV Comfort Multi Zone Replacement", there seems to be mixed reviews.

(I'm not plugging that product, I just need a fix and quick.)

So no responses - although the thermostat never achieved 100% performance, as it warmed up, the buttons became more responsive and we were able to control the gas furnaces and one of the heat pumps. I found the micro-air thermostat, I'll get one in about a week. If I can find tech specs about the control wires, I might build my own using a Wifi enabled MCU.

We had that thermostat and it also quit working. It's my understanding there isn't a replaced for it.

We did replace with the Micro-Air and it's great.

Some of the Micro-Air thermostats are plug and play.  It depends on the year and model Fleetwood you have.

We do have an older Dometic Thermostat that may work for you.  This is a link to a photo of the one we have. https://photos.app.goo.gl/2dmzsNs9N4trYSGh9

I feel your pain without thermostat controls. If you'll email me at murph757032gmail.com I'll send my phone number so we can talk.

I got my micro-air thermostat and am waiting for some warmer weather to install it. I am puzzled by the "Sensor 1" and "Sensor 2" wires that I was told by micro-air I could ignore, but the manual says they connect to remote temp gauges. These two wires are in their own harness, so its a bit ... "confusing" as to what to do with them? Any suggestions?

I've got it installed, after ignoring the spare wiring harness and pulling the cables out of the wall, turns out the installation is trivial, two connectors, including the two-wire one I was told I should just ignore by the distributor.

    Yes just ignore.

What Sensor 1 & Sensor 2 actually do

Those two wires are inputs for optional remote temperature probes.

    They are used only if:

    • You want the thermostat to read temperature from a remote location, such as
      – inside a refrigerator
      – inside a battery compartment
      – duct air temp
      – outdoor temp
      – or any other special monitoring point

Most RV owners never use these.
