Wow, it took me a while to figure out how to start my first new topic.Didn't know how to get beyond these 2 dozen symbols above.

We are expecting the arrival of our 14 Excursion 35C on Sep 1. I am 75 years old, but I feel like a 5-year old expecting a toy train for Xmas.

Anybody else out there to have had that much fun lately?

We bought a new Excursion 33C in January and I am 77. We sold our 2008 RV in March of 2012, thinking our RVing days were over. It took us less than a year determine we didn't want them to be over. Looking forward to many days on the road in the coming months.

Hello Don and Ann,

We have a few things in common. When I first read your reply, I said to myslf: "Gee, sounds all very familiar, I could have written that." LOL

On August 22 Hertha and I will be at the Fleetwood plant to see our Excursion moving down the assembly line. Decatur is only about 4 hours from here. 'Here' is about 40 miles NW of Detroit (you know, 'Detroit' which was a jewel in 1950).

Is the shore power line a 50 or 30 amp cord?

Did you have many squawks, when you first got your unit in January? Which was the worst one?

The dealer wants to sell me an ESP policy, but I am also interested in what Good Sam has for me. I am not sure which one to get. Any help with this issue?

The Excursion comes with a 50 amp cable and a built in surge protector. At least mine did, and that is a real plus.

I am not one to talk to about ESP's, because I don't believe in them. I have been RVing for many years and have never had an instance where I needed one. But then I have never had any RV for more than 5 years.

Don, you made me think about getting ESP or not - I decided on NOT. I also have had a number of rigs in the past and never had used or needed ESP. Twice I had purchased ESP, for a 2001 Phaeton, and a 2008 Fleetwood Revolution. I am now transferring the amount of the ESP premium (which I will not buy) to a savings account for the next 5 years. Then, if something happens, other than normal maintenance and minor repairs, we will use the funds accumulated in that savings account. We intnend to keep the motorhome for 5 years until age 80. Then, whatever is accumulated in the savings account will pay for a cruise, - maybe enough for two cruises.

We bought a 2006 Discovery a year ago. We bought an ESP after researching several companies, and it has paid for itself in the first year (our rig was evidently not very well maintained by the previous owner). We would not have an RV without one, especially a Class A. Yes, the plans are expensive, but the peace of mind when something goes wrong is worth the cost to us. We are full-timers and look forward to many years of enjoying this lifestyle.

Horst: I have no idea why this forum is so inactive. This is the fourth brand of MH that I have had and the forums associated with the other three: Winnebago, Allegro, and Born Free, were much more active.

Hank and Selene: I have always purchased new MHs and then have meticulously maintained them, so never had a problem. The money I have saved on not buying ESPs will pay for just about anything that I think might go wrong on this MH. That being said, I think that if I had ever purchased a used MH, I would probably have followed your example and bought an ESP, because of the uncertainly of how the MH had been maintained before I got it.
