Dusty residue on counters and floor

Every few days we have to clean a dusty residue that accumulates on the rear bathroom counters (and probably all other surfaces).  I can only think of two possibilities. A/C unit or outside dirt from road or engine. A/C unit return filters are clean. I will be keeping a closer eye on how this residue is appearing but thought I'd ask to see if anyone else has experienced this issue. Thanks!!

We experience the same issue. Unfortunately, we are driving a house on the washboards they call roads and the dust and road grime somehow finds its way into the coach.

Thanks for the response. I agree with you. We have eliminated the A/C. We cleaned the counters before a 5 hr drive and they were dirty when we arrived. No A/C was used. Now to try to figure out the entry spot and seal it off.

Your main air from outside comes in from the outside Fridge vent, ceiling vents not closed, and around your slides.

Yes, I have the same problem.  I think it's brake dust.  Leaves a fine coat on everything.  Any ideas about this would be helpful

Thanks to everyone who responded. We head south in a few weeks. I plan to use painters tape along areas that could be allowing road dirt/brake dust, etc to pass through. Will try process of elimination to try to find where dust is passing through. I’ll post if I figure anything out.

Do you have bunk beds in the very back on top of motor?  We do and the dust comes from around the frame of the bed.

Check above the rear bathroom vanity mirrors.  We discovered on our 2023 Discovery LXE 40M the LED accent light wiring harnesses pass thru large holes that are allowing negative pressure from rear fiberglass cap to bring up soot and dust. Plugged these holes with some foam pieces we had leftover in shipping packaging, being careful to keep wiring centered and protected on all sides by the foam. (Attached are pictures taken above each of the vanity mirrors where air entry carried black soot that stuck to the vinyl ceiling).

    David,

Awesome advice! Found the 2 holes above the vanities (about twice the size of yours) and plugged them up. After a 3 hour drive, little to no dust on bathroom counters. Thank You!
