I just purchased a 2004 Tioga 29V and have one basic newbie question. If you are connected to pressurised city water does the RV use that pressure to provide internal water or is the RV water pump still needed.

When I connect  city water the onboard tank eventually overflows no matter which position the diverter handle under the sink is positioned

A somewhat common problem is the check valve on the water pump fails and the city pressure back feeds the system to fill the fresh water tank.

As to having the pump on while connected, it is not needed. Some folks find that when city supply is very weak they use the pump to provide better pressure.
