We have a 2003 Fleetwood Expedition which has the outside compartments attached to the slides.  We would like to replace the carpeting with a laminate flooring but it appears the slide when it comes in slides across the carpeting.  Thus the question, wouldn't the slide then slide over the flooring and cause it to
scratch the floor when sliding in and out.

Has anyone done this and what was the solution?

I have a 2007 Southwind and also wanted to replace the carpeting with laminate flooring.  Lazy Days near Orlando told me that since the slideout slides on the carpet, it would scratch laminate.  i guess we're stuck with carpet.  Please let me know if you find out otherwise.

We had new flooring put in and there were 5 places that the rollers contact the floor we have 5 4inch wide 3 foot slats of flooring we place down before running the slide in to protect the floor just pick them up after slide is expanded. We used a new pvc based flooring that looks like a wood floor looks great. They replaced the carpet on the slide as well. Classic Coachworks in Lakeland Fl  did the install removing tile and old carpet

I replaced the carpet on a 2000 Monaco Diplomat with 2 slides.  There was no scratching on the flooring after a years worth of slide use.  I sanded and painted the base wood floor with a white sealer.  Stapled a vapor pad to the base flooring then set commercial grade flooring planks, gluing the edges together with contact cement, over the pad.  Leave a 1/4 inch of space at the wall for expansion and shifting as the coach torques during driving.  We had a ceramic tile floor in the kitchen area and had to make a leveler where the 2 types of floors meet.  Measure, and measure again before you saw, cut, or drill.

Remember to leave holes to bolt the chairs and couches back to the floor mounts.  We did NOT remove the carpet from the slide as it was hidden by the couch.  The new flooring went from the front of the coach to the kitchen and lasted for over 5 years before we sold the coach.
