2006 Discovery 39L. How do I determine relay for which of the 4 slides. Have picture of motor control module and think we have a bad relay as slide wont go out. After manual override motor works to retract slide successfully back in. anyone know or how to find out. Waiting for repair appointment end of December (ugh) Thanks for input

Unfortunately more information is needed to be of good help, but here are a few points.

1. How did you manually move the slide?

Physically crank or apply power?

If you applied power, where did you do so, at motor or at the controller feed?

2. Do you have multiple controllers in the bays? If so you can swap controllers to prove out what is bad, controller or wiring. Controllers also have a fuse that could be the issue.

Allen, your 06 has three controllers on the upper back wall of the electrical bay. Depending on your floor plan, your 06 has 3 or 4. My 06 39L has 4 slides. Two may have 25 Amp breakers and slow blow fuses. Those are for the front slides. The other (s) will probably have 20amp and those are for the bedroom slides.

They are not marked at the factory. The only way to tell is to unplug them and plug them back in one at a time. Mark them so you don't have to do this again. The controllers are basically interchangeable. You can move the connectors around from a bad controller to a good one..

The slow blow fuses are not available locally. You'll have to order them online. You should have some spares of both sizes as well as the 300Amp forklift fuse.

Thank you both for responding! I found the motor after both of your posts and after disengaging the brake I used a ratchet with 3/4 socket and cranked it out with wife rocking the top gently to find the neutral spot for movement. Lubricated heavily once out and the motor worked fine bringing it back in successfully. Knowing the motor worked, we thought it might be wiring or relay. Traced the wire from motor through engine compartment and saw it ended at relay board (Thanks Kerry!). When I checked the connection on both rear slide relays, they seemed intact. Much to our pleasant surprise, suddenly the slide is going in and out perfectly. I hold my breath every time I ask it to go out, but so far OK. I ordered a new relay board and will test it if failure happens again. Once again, thanks so much. I plan to join the Discovery group from your suggestion!

The common failure point on these circuit boards are the solder joints on the back where the female connector is welded on. A lot of folks, including me, have successfully repaired them by just touching a hot soldering iron to the connections.
