We have a 2012 Expedition with dinghy set up with the Invisibrake.  The Invisibrake is activated on the dinghy when the coach's brake lights go on.  My question is when the retarder activates do the coach brake lights go on, thereby activiating the Invisibrake?  Is it OK to tow with the retarder activated?  The Invisibrake will go off after 15 seconds and after 20 seconds it will beep a warning signal.

We have a 2013 Expedition and tow a 2004 PT Cruiser on a dolly with a Tekonsha P3 brake controller.

On mine, the brakes lights do not come on when the engine retarder is functioning.

I can tell because the P3's screen shows when and how hard the dolly brakes are being applied when I apply the coach's brakes.  By watching the P3's screen I can see that when the engine retarder is functioning the dolly brakes are not being applied.

Thanks for the reply.  I discovered that the engine retarder on mine activates the brake lights, thereby activating the invisibrake.  I have learned to downshift when going down hill vice using the retarder.

Your retarder is not connect to any light power wires. It comes when turned on. And off when turn off or brakes are applies. On my American Dream
