We just purchased our first Fleetwood class A 2009 Fiesta 31M.  Has front and rear AC units and one thermostat that controls both.  I have some questions for all of you experienced RVer's.

I assume with one thermostat it is running both units at the same time every time the thermostat calls for cooling?

I would like to place a separate thermostat one for the front and one for the back.  This way while not using the bedroom we are not running all the extra power and use on the AC unit.

Has anyone done this?  Can anyone explain how they did the wiring?  I assume I can separate the two feeds from each AC unit going to the single thermostat now and wire them to two separate thermostats. Easy Peaz?  And also hook the heat up to one thermostat.

Or perhaps I just turn the breaker off of the bedroom ac unit when I only want to run one AC unit?

Also has anyone wired a dimmer switch for the coast under cabinet lights?  If so what switch did you use to do this?

Thanks everybody I'm very excited about this first step into modern Motorhomes as my first and only for the past 25 years has been a vintage 1973 Bread Box Winnebago Brave!  Loved the old girl, but this Fleetwood is a dream.

We have a 2013 Bounder 35K.  It has a single thermostat and we have 2 ac units.  One unit is also the heat pump.  The thermostat allows for each ac unit to be set for a different temperature.  So I'm not sure if yours is different but check the zone settings on yours.  You may not need to anything.  We can run both units on 50 amp but only one at a time on 30 amp.  Each unit is easy to program and reset thru the thermostat.  Good luck

There are thermistors in front and rear of the coach.  They are about the size of a button and usually around between 5-6 feet up on a wall.  You set your thermostat for each zone, or you can turn one zone off if you close off that section with the door or curtain.  You just don’t want to overtax one unit cooling both zones.

Thank You Bob and Pete.  Bob and Betty can you post a photo of your single thermostat?  As far as I can tell it my single controls both.  Pete I will look for a thermostat in each room if I understand you these two thermostats would have to be wired into my single controller to work that way and my single controller only has one setting for temperature so this would not work as my single controller turns the ac units on and off at the same temp.

As a quick fix I just closed off the bed room and turned off the breaker for the rear ac unit.  Uses less electric and allows 30 amp breaker while not using the entire coach.

How about dimmer switches for the under cabinet lighting anyone?  Has anyone added a dimmer to the factory lights?

    Thank You,

    Captain Scott

This is what you are looking for.
and your single thermostat should have a “zone” button.  How abou if you upload a photo of your unit here.

Your AC controls should show a zone 1 and zone 2 each is totally independent based upon the temperature setting you give it, or even if you shut off one zone. If you don't have the manual for your control a google search for the model will show you how to set the individual zones.

Hope this works for you.  The thermostat pic show zone 1 and zone 2 which are independent.  The sensor shown is above the thermostat and gets the temp from zone 2.  There is a sensor forzone 1 above the kitchen sink.  This is in our 2013 Bounder 35k.

Seems like you are getting some great info from others.  Good luck.
