We just purchased a 2008 Discovery 39r.  Absolutely crazy about it, but have a damaged cargo door on the passenger side that is 29.75" wide and 31" tall.  Our coach is the Gold, Black, & some light grey.  The door will have to be replaced, and would love for some input on how to the replacement.  All suggestions are welcomed.  Sick about it.    Vann Vaughan  770-655-3645  vvaughan@bellsouuth.net.

I have had similar experience.  Mine was caused by running over a tread from an 18 wheeler.  We call them road gators.  When I took it to an RV body shop for repair the owner was candid and told me my options.  I could:

A: order a replacement door from Fleetwood, or a Parts House, or a Scrap yard somewhere in the country.  The cost of the door would be more than doubled by the fact that it would have to be crated in wood and shipped ground transport from its FOB point.  He also indicated there would probably be a 2+ month delay in getting said replacement in house.

B: I could allow his team to manufacture a replacement part made of a heavier grade aluminum, have them mount and paint it with blending to surrounding areas and have my coach back in 2 weeks.

I opted for plan B.   Insurance covered the cost minus deductible and you'd never know it was damaged.
