House AC while driving

I have a 2024 Fleetwood Disvovery.  I’d like to operate one or more of the house AC units while driving.  The dashboard AC doesn’t keep the driver area as cool as I’d like.  I can’t find any information in the manual that helps.  How should I set the inverter and any other steps to allow me to do this? I live in Florida and am planning a tour of some southwest states this summer.

    I appreciate your help.

Charlie,  the only way to run your house air is with the generator running.  The air conditioners do not operate on the inverter.  You can run one or both on generator.  Happy travels.

Yes, you can run the house ACs with your generator but there is another option you might consider.  I installed a set of thermal curtains, right behind the driver’s and passenger’s seats.  They are mounted on overhead tracks so they can be pulled back easily out of the way.  With these curtains closed, the dash ac has been able to keep the cockpit cool.  I do run the house ACs prior to arriving at our destination to cool the rest of the motorhome, especially on those hot days on the road.

    Safe and cool travels!!

While this is not a simple answer, Kerry Pinkerton has installed a mini-split AC unit in his RV that will run off of an inverter while driving down the road.  If interested, you might try to contact him at pinkertonk@yahoo.com.  I have found him to be exceedingly wise about such things...
