We are getting a grand Cherokee sport To pull behind our new to us 2014 fleetwood Tara 31 foot MH.  We would like advice on towbars that are not complicated to use and work well. I have read about several brands but wonder if there are some that work better for my car or trailer. NancyHarper

I can not speak of other brands but we have been very happy with our Blue Ox.  It is reasonably easy for 1 or 2 people to connect and disconnect.  Only down side with ours is we need to be totally straight behind the RV to disconnect.  That is rarely an issue but has been a problem a few times.  Good luck with your search.

We tow a 2020 Grand Cherokee using Roadmaster components. We use the Nighthawk tow bar which works well for us. Its nice having all the cables incorporated into the bar. I haven't had any issues connecting with regard to vehicle orientation. As long as the tow bar will reach, I can connect. Disconnecting will always have some challenges getting the bar loose enough to pull the pins. The more angle between the RV and the tow the more difficult a disconnect will be.  In the end Blue Ox and Roadmaster will do the job and I'm sure a few others.  A good source other than Roadmaster is eTrailer. Their website will show you what vehicle specific components (baseplates, wiring, etc) you need and there are videos to show how to install them if you're so inclined. I was able to install mine on the Jeep with a little help to maneuver the larger pieces.

We also use the Even Brake supplemental brake system. Some states require them depending on vehicle weight and its a good idea to use a supplemental brake anyway. Installing the wiring isn't difficult and as before there are videos.

The jeep Grand Cherokee that we are looking at buying has tow hooks sticking out of the front grill/ bumper area. Are those tow hooks used for flat towing the vehicle? Or do we need to get a base plate added under the grill to Attach the towbar to?

Anybody have a suggestion for the base plate for a 2020 grand Cherokee sport? Is there one you don’t have to trim the grill and facia? One that may be simplerTo install and one that is more invisible when you’re driving it around town?
