First time RV'er and first time poster on the forum.

I just bought a 2015 Discovery 40G and am looking forward to getting out there.  We will be traveling for a few weeks, staying mostly at parks with full hook ups. A few nights we'll be stopping to see friends, who of course don't have 50 amp power for us, so we'll be boondocking (funny term BTW).  What's the protocol on keeping the fridge/freezer running at night?  I would assume this is a no-no as you'll have dead batteries in the morning.  Do I just shut the fridge/freezer (it's a residential unit) off and keep the doors closed, and hope for the best?  I assume everything will stay cold and relatively frozen.  I'll plan on firing up the generator in the morning, but assume it will be off for at least 8 to 10 hours from when we turn in at night, and get going in the morning.

Look forward to some veteran feedback here!  Thanks in advance.

as long as you properly maintain your batteries, you would have no problem with a closed freezer staying solid overnight, and probably more than 24 hours. We dry camp at the Nascar races all the time and generator has to be off from 11pm to 7am and we've never had a problem.
