Hi Dennis:  I don’t generally use my generator much, however on a cross country trip last summer I did use it occasionally while driving in order to run the a/c unit when we were in particularly warm areas of the country.  I found that the generator would cut off after some period of time, typically 10-20 minutes.  I researched the problem in many online RV/Motorhome forums and on YouTube and found quite a number of folks who had the same issue (with Onan gensets).  To make a long story short, I decided to do all of the ‘easy’ things first.  Checked fuel level in motorhome....had plenty.  Checked fuel supply after the fuel pump on the generator....had flow.  Checked generator oil level......was at high mark on dipstick.  Took advice of some folks online and removed enough oil so that the level read a quarter of the way between ‘Add’ and ‘Full’......problem solved.  No more intermittent stopping.  Decided to check this theory.  Performed an oil and oil filter change and added recommended amount of recommended oil.  Dipstick showed full after running a bit while parked and level.  During next drive between campgrounds I ran the generator and it once again stopped after about 15 mins.  Removed enough oil so that dipstick showed about 1/4 between’Add’ and ‘Full’ and retested during next segment of the trip while underway.  Problem solved.  There are a few theories out there concerning this issue and I’m not going to conjecture, but this resolved my problem.  Costs nothing, is still in the ‘ok’ zone on the dipstick and may work for you.  If you want a link or two to some videos on this, let me know and I’ll send them.

Update, (Sorry for the late response)      The oil level was low and the Genrator has a built in over heat feature that shuts it down.  Thanks for the help!
