2014 Bounder 35K - Upholstery

Just purchased a 2014 Bounder 35K manufactured in December of 2013. We notice that the upholstery on both front seats was destroyed and had them reupholstered as part of the deal. Now that we have been out for a couple of shakedown trips, it is obvious the jackknife sectional sofa and jackknife dinette seats are will need attention soon.

Does RV upholstery typically need to be replaced after only 5 years?

Is there any recourse with Fleetwood to reupholster or replace?

Would it be cost effective to just replace?

Current estimates to reupholster are 3600(sofa) and 2400(dinette).

    Thanks for your feedback.

We have a 2014 Bounder 36E and are in the process of replacing all furniture coverings.  We are extremely disappointed the Fleetwood (REV Group) chose sub-standard material and refuse to take responsibility for it.  We are also disappointed that they refuse to assist us in repairing our Bounder interior.  We called Flexsteel Customer Service (563)-556-7730, who are assisting us with the two Captains chair coverings for under $800, plus installation.   We are working with RecPro (www.recpro.com) to replace our sofa/sleeper and dining booth cushions for under $1200.  Both Flexsteel and RecPro sent us sample material for color match.  We have learned that this is a common issue with Bounders built in 2013 thru 2015 and do not know beyond that.  Most disappointing!

    Just an update.

I'm working with Flexsteel. With the original tags from each piece they will fabricate covers for each piece. At this point it looks like $2,300. (+tax+ship) I'm handy so I'll probably try to tackle the installation myself. Just waiting for some samples to make the final covering selection.

Their recommended coverings are Ultra Leather Original and Brisa Original from the UltraFabricsInc.com site.

I like where this is going.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

    Final Update

Choosing the fabric from the UltraLeather website took some time. We'd pick several and Lisa(FlexSteel) would send us swatches to pick from. On the third set of swatches, we had our final choice. Buckskin (T61-80 or 535-3134 on the website) It took about 3 weeks for FlexSteel to return the 4 sets of coverings to me. (Sofa Jackknife, Sofa Extension, Dinette Left and Dinette Right.

Before placing the final order, I removed the left dinette seat and broke it down to be sure that I would be able to actually handle the job. It seemed straight forward.

It probably took the longest to carefully remove the 1000's of staples in each piece.
When I had questions, Lisa said she would be available to consult. This is where I learned about "hog clips", I found hog clip pliers and 150 hog clips on Amazon. That was enough for what I needed.
Lisa also advised me that the corner piece for the sofa was too large to fit through the RV door. The breakdown and re-upholstery for this piece took place in the coach. All of the other pieces were brought back to the house where I setup a worktable to remove and replease the coverings for each piece. Some pieces required a 2nd set of hands or 2nd opinion. Thanks to my lovely assistant, Mary, for being available when needed.

The job is done and we are very pleased!

    Thanks for the tip.
