We are new to the Fleetwood brand and have a few questions. We have a new 2018 Bounder (36H) and was wondering:

On the inverter outside do we turn it off on the outside switch when have it stored (with no power hooked up)

What oil for oil changes do you reccomend 0-20 or 5-20?

Does anyone shut their propane gas when stored. we never have but was wondering if we should

For dewinterizing is their more than the one valve under the sink to turn on

Thanks in advance and ir you have any other suggestions please let us know

    Hello Ralph,

    Congratulations on the new RV.

I'll try to answer a few of your questions based on how I manage our 2014 Southwind:

    1) When storing the RV without  shore power, I always shut off the inside battery disconnect switches (2) and the outside inverter switch (1). If you were storing "with" shore power, leave the outside inverter switch on allowing the battery charger to charge all batteries.

    2) As for oil changes, my RV mechanic suggested I go with synthetic oil and it literally increased the mileage between changes from 3,000 miles to 6,000 mile, at approx. $110.00/ per change.

    3) When storing, I always shut off the propane, just peace of mind.

    4) On my Southwind, I have a bi-pass valve for the water heater in the basement compartment beside the wet bay. After the system has been winterized I switch the valve back to "flow" so that in the Spring I can flush it out using city water. I also have a valve coming into the water pump for winterizing with pink anti-freeze. Again, after winterizing, I open the valve so that it is ready for the Spring flush.

Usually the oil viscosity is on the oil fill cap. Mine was so high up that it was necessary to purchase the oil in quarts. There wasn't enough room to fit a larger container of oil in that tiny space. I know many of the newer engines are using a lighter viscosity but I don't know much about the 2018 models.

    Hi,

We have the 2018 Bounder 35P. We use 5w20 like it says on the oil filler cap. Many modern engines use variable timing systems that will not operate properly with the wrong viscosity oil.
