Entertainment Center location in 2019 Bounder 35P

We recently purchased this Bounder.  We no longer full time but still travel frequently.  The entertainment center/cabinet is in the back of the coach in the bedroom. It contains the Sat TV receivers and DVD player and the door is a wooden frame holding the flatscreen TV for the bedroom.

W e have DirTV and I have an IR remote for the receivers. However, sitting in the front of the  coach watching Sat TV the receivers do not respond, I have to get up and go to the back and open the cabinet/TV frame to get the receiver to respond. If I leave the cabinet door open that does not help, there are 3 walls (one being a shower enclosure) between the front and the back cabinet!  It is especially annoying because we seldom watch TV real time, normally only recorded so we can skip the commercials.  The exercise of getting up and probably does me good, but I get enough in other ways.

I am not very familiar with the Fleetwood line so I am wondering is this rear located entertain compartment  a common configuration and how do others deal with this if so? I believe the electro magnetic radiation from the flat screen TV is blocking the IR signal from the receivers that are a few inches from the back of the TV.

A previous coach we had, had some IR receivers positioned around the coach and the signal was transmitted from these button sized receivers to the sat receivers which were otherwise inconveniently located.  I have not seen that system except in that coach line. Are there any Fleetwood coaches that use a system similar?

Sorry this got so long, I appreciate any feed back you can provide.

I have the same setup and had the same problem.According to the manual the remote should work without being by the player, but it does not.

Under my TV is a small shallow cabinet with a drop down door. I cut a hole in the wall so the DVD player would fit in the cabinet and drilled a hole in the top of the cabinet and ran a cable to the TV. That works fine and put the player near the TV.

In an upper cabinet in the living room mine has a hdmi cable coming through a hole in the wall that one would think would be for a player, but I have never gotten it to work.

Thanx, James for the info. We have a similar cabinet beneath the TV and I think the DVD player would fit there as you describe; however the DirTV receivers would not and they need to connect to the cables from the roof which enter the cabinet in the back.

Another RVer referred me to IR repeaters which I am looking into. I think that is what we had in another coach and they worked so well I never learned much about them.  I am working on learning about them now.

    I appreciate your input.

Have you tried switching to an RF Remote?

In our house we use a Radio Shack Wireless Remote Control Extender Cat. No. 15-1950R (Receiver) and 15-1950T (Transmitter). They both plug into a regular wall outlet, are not connected directly into a TV. The Receiver is in our living room, pointed at the DirecTV unit. The Transmitter is in another room where we spend the majority of our time. All we have to do is point the DirecTV hand-held control at the transmitter and walla, the DirecTV unit in the living room responds; turns on/off, displays the guide, changes the channel, etc. Makes the wife happy, so all is good.

    Steve & Ann,

I also have a RF remote but not have used it for some time. I got the IR version because it worked better in previous RV’s I had this equipment in! However, based on your suggestion I may try it.  Thanx for your help.

    Jim & Janis,

Thanx for your help.  What you describe is exactly what I was thinking about and may have had in a Tiffen we had several years ago. I never quite figured out how it worked but it had a piece in the entertainment cabinet that plugged into a normal wall plug and had a sensor that went over the receiver sensor spot.  There was a button on the wall near the TV we were told to point the DirTV remote at and we did and it controlled the receiver.  I never figured out how it was powered, no cords were obvious. I assumed it was wired in when the coach was built, but never verified it as I did not want to disturb something that worked so well.

I will try the RF remote while I look for this Radio Shack part or something similar. I did find something similar on Amazon, but need to look at it closer.

Thanx to all of you for your help.  I do appreciate your inputs.
