We have a 2017 Discovery LX40E and are seriously considering changing to the 38' Discovery. The 40 is really 41' long and can't get in to the front of our sub-division without dragging the rear end. Plus it is just to long for us. We had a lot of problems with squeaks, etc. on the 2017 LXE but we got one of the first ones out in June of 2016. Has anyone bought the 2018 Discovery 38 ' and what do you think of it.

We have a 2015 Expedition with the same floor plan (38K).  I won't go into all of the problems we've had with it, but we have had the full wall slide worked on five times at the Decatur Service Center since we purchased the coach new in June 2016.

One of the problems has been repeated cracking of a floor tile just to the outside of the half bath door and just in front of the step up to the bedroom.  I am aware that other Fleetwood models with the 38K floor plan have had the same problem.  The Service Center appears to have finally found the right combination of added rollers and roller adjustments, as we have not had a recurrence of the cracked tile since our visit in August last year.  They also provided 12 Habeggar Slide Glides to prevent the rollers form leaving marks on the tile floor where they rest when the slide is in the retracted position.

A second problem with the full wall slide was a gap in flooring where the leading (inside) edge of the living area part of the slide floor meets the step up to the bedroom.  The gap was large enough to see daylight through, and if the outside temperature and inside temperature were different, you could feel air moving through it.  We also worried that it provided access to the interior for small rodents, roaches and other bugs.  I finally talked them into hiding the gap with a carpet covered block of wood.  The gap is still there behind the plug, but it is hidden and we no longer see daylight or feel air movement through it.

Most of the rest of the 70 plus problems we have experienced have been the result of sloppy workmanship during the construction process.   I would not buy new, any model of any brand of REV motor home produced in the Decatur factory.  Instead, If I had to have a particular REV floor plan,  I would shop for a clean two year old model whose original owner has had all of the problems taken care of.
