I have 2010 Discovery 40x. The smoke alarm in the master BR continues to beep even after replacing the battery. I'm about ready to cut the wires and install one that is battery only. Anyone know how to fix this?

    David,

The one in our 2008 Pace Arrow did the same thing. They wear out also. Had to unplug and replace.

Smoke Detectors and CO2 Detectors actually have a shelf life of only 5-10 years depending on the manufacturer.

When mine was constantly chirping on our previous RV I replaced it and in the instructions, it stated the shelf life was only 5 years!

Just one of the things we don't find in the owner's manuals.

The CO2 Detector recently went on our 2014 Southwind and Fleetwood's Techs (in Decatur) said the original round model had been replaced by a new, rectangular version.

I suspect the original models were not up to Fleetwood's standards.

FWIW, we just had to replace the propane detector in our 2016 South Wind.

Given the fact that they have a useful shelf life of 5 yrs, no telling how long the one we replaced sat on the

     shelf before it was installed.

As for the smoke detector, ours has a 9 volt battery for power and I just replaced the original

     battery with a Duracell.
