Steering on my new-to-me 1997 30' Storm seemed loose.  Truck repair shop found a ruptured air line to right front air bag, replaced and now reports ready for pickup; had caliper problem but that's a different post for later.  I am trying to find information on air bags.  I would like to know what they do (said I'm new), are they just on the front or all around; do they inflate each time you start, what do they do?  i would appreciate any information or pointers to other sites/documents.

In 1997 the Storm was built on both the Ford chassis and the Chevy chassis. Sounds like you have the Chevy as they did have air bags inside the front springs, did not have any in the rear. Their purpose was to assist the front springs. I never had one go bad so not sure impact on driveability, but can imagine an impact on steering. Usually kept our pressure between 60-80 psi. You have to keep inflated manually, they are not automatic. There is a valve at bottom of air bag, you have to get under motor home to get to it.

Yep, it's a Chevy.  I will report back after pickup and test drive.  I really hope that clears up the loose steering.  It really wears my wife out :).  If that driver's seat had a drain, I would NEVER get a chance to drive.  Seriously, thanks for that information.  Is there any place I can find that kind of information?
There is an awful lot about the Storm that I don't know yet.  Thanks

We picked her up and ran over to Huntsville - about 250 mi trip - and experienced a BIG improvement in steering.  The wheel held steady so steering much improved.  Our air bags have been plumbed to have valves up just under the hood so pressure and fill is easy.  We had a good trip  The GenSet ran for 3 days without missing a lick.  All Good.
